This presentation will force the participants to take a hard look at how interpreters often unintentionally create an environment of disengagement and disempowerment among deaf people by employing the standard practice of interpreting. Specific examples of such practice will be demonstrated. Specific ideas and strategies to improve the outcome of the interpreting experience for both deaf people and interpreters will be presented. The goal is to create DEAM (Deaf Dream Team) where both deaf people and interpreters come out winners in any interpreted situations.
